  Het is een band, het is een concept, het is een spektakel. Het zijn The Irrepressibles. Onder leiding van zanger Jamie McDermott verovert deze tienkoppige Britse formatie de wereld met een verrassende mix van pop en performance. De uitbundige ensceneringen doen denken aan de decadentie van het Berlijnse cabaret in de jaren twintig en de Belle Époque eind 19e eeuw. De muzikale invloeden variëren van Gershwin tot Bowie en van Kurt Weill tot Kate Bush. Boven de rijk georkestreerde melodieën uit klinkt het fragiele Antony Hegarty-achtige stemgeluid van McDermott, dat ons meeneemt in zijn mystieke gevoelswereld, zingend over lust, liefde, pijn en verlies.
  Speciaal voor het Holland Festival maakt de groep een nieuwe versie van zijn laatste voorstelling. Niet te stuiten. Niet te missen.

The elaborate staging mirrors the decadence of the Weimar cabaret of the twenties and the Belle Époque at the end of the 19th century. The musical influences range from Gershwin to Bowie, from Kurt Weill to Kate Bush. Over the richly orchestrated melodies soars the fragile, Antony Hegarty-esque vocal of McDermott, leading us into a mystical world of deeply felt love, anger, lust and loss.
  Especially for the Holland Festival, the group has created a new version of its latest show. Irrepressible, irresistible, unmissable.
