Luke Slater

Luke Slater aka The 7th Plain, presenteert een performance op het snijvlak van elektronische muziek en dans. De Britse producer en dj geldt in dance-kringen al meer dan vijfentwintig jaar als absolute voorloper en vernieuwer. Onder tal van aliassen (Planetary Assault Systems is de bekendste), bouwde Slater een genre-overstijgend oeuvre waar geijkte techno-kunstenaars als Burial, Marcel Dettmann en Lucy schatplichtig aan zijn.

The 7th Plain is een van die alter ego’s. Onder deze noemer produceerde Slater in de jaren negentig een aantal meesterlijke elektronica-platen met een romantische inslag, muziek waar een hoopvol vertrouwen in de toekomst in doorklinkt. Tijdens de lockdown ontstond het idee om juist met dit deel van zijn oeuvre een dansvoorstelling te maken. Met deze concertshow gecombineerd met ballet, ziet Slater een langgekoesterde wens in vervulling gaan.

Interstellar Funk (live) 
De Amsterdamse dj en producer Interstellar Funk (Olf van Elden) is binnen de clubwereld vooral bekend om zijn intense dj-sets en eigen producties die opvallen door rauwheid en schijnbare imperfecties. Onlangs waagde hij zich aan het avontuur om live te spelen. Waar zijn dj-sets ruig en donker zijn, voert live het licht en de sprankeling de boventoon. Een verschil van dag en nacht, maar met dezelfde eigenzinnigheid. Met een scherp oor voor tijdloze melodieën en een gegronde kennis van synthesizers en drumcomputers creëert Interstellar Funk een muzikale trip om geest en hart te verruimen. 

Van Anh (dj) 
In de entreehal draait Van Anh. Met meer dan tien jaar ervaring op haar naam is zij een vaste waarde in de Nederlandse elektronische muziek. Haar sound gaat van diepe etherische ambient tot harde compromisloze techno. De ideale muzikale herder die het programma samenbrengt.

Luke Slater aka The 7th Plain, presents a performance at the intersection of electronic music and contemporary dance. Slater is an extremely prolific artist from the UK working under several monikers. In the past 25 years, his wide variety of electronic music has gained him the status of pioneer and innovator. Producers and DJ’s like Burial, Marcel Dettmann and Lucy are hugely influenced by his work.

One of Slater’s alter ego’s is The 7th Plain, under which he made a number of expertly crafted electronica records in the 1990s. Slater is now digging back into this dreamy part of his ambient catalogue, music that has been described as ‘a panorama of a bright and confident future’. During the lockdown the idea arose to create a multi-disciplinary performance, sound tracked by this particularly stirring and hopeful sounding corner of his oeuvre. With this concert show combined with ballet, a long-cherished wish for Slater comes true.

Interstellar Funk (live) 
Many may know dj and producer  Interstellar Funk (Olf van Elden) for his dj abilities to set fire to the dancefloor and/or his productions whose sound stands out because of its imperfections, its human warmth and its rough charms. Just recently he endeavoured on an adventure to play live. And to great success. While his dj sets may be synonymous with the darker edges of electro and wave, in his live set the light and sparkles come through. With a keen ear for timeless melodies and a deep knowledge of synths and drum machines, Interstellar Funk creates a musical trip to expand the mind and heart.

Van Anh is a regular fixture on the Dutch music scene with over a decade of experience to her name. Her sound takes on multiple shapes and forms varying from deep ethereal ambient to hard uncompromising techno. The perfect musical shepherd to keep the whole evening together.
