Christian McBride wordt met recht gezien als de een van de grote jazzbassisten van onze tijd. Hij speelde samen met jazzlegendes als Sonny Rollins en Herbie Hancock, maar ook met popsterren als Sting en The Roots. McBrides indrukwekkende bigband omvat alles waar de Amerikaanse jazztraditie voor staat, van diepe blues en rijke swing tot sensationele solo’s. Zijn spel klinkt altijd krachtig, zowel in de solo’s als in de rotsvaste begeleiding.

McBride neemt graag het voortouw, straalt plezier uit op het podium en wil zoveel mogelijk mensen raken met zijn muziek. Hij won zes Grammy’s, onder meer voor zijn bigband-album The Good Feeling en voor zijn solo op de standard Cherokee.
