Kleurstof

Ischico’s music is like dye dissolving in water, washing over the listener’s world and imbuing it with new shades. Her debut album, aptly named Kleurstof (‘Dye’), was released in March 2025. The Dutch-Indian pianist Ischico Velzel is a musical explorer, charting connections with her audience through every genre she plays, from classical to jazz to folk. Her recitals feature her own compositions, unearthed gems from fellow composers, and spontaneous improvisations. In everything she does, Ischico paints with colours.

In her own compositions and improvisations, Ischico intricately weaves the classical tradition with a vibrant spectrum of other influences, from folk traditions and jazz to Spinvis. She draws her creative energy from the places that feel like home, whether it’s her ancestral homeland India or the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Ischico also enjoys presenting hidden treasures of the piano repertoire, including 20th-century works by Gayane Chebotarian and Arno Babadjanian, and contemporary music by jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan.

Outdoor concert
This Terrace Concert is an outdoor event. The sun can be intense and the wind can be quite strong near the water, so come prepared. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the performance will be held indoors in the Entrance Hall, which overlooks the river IJ.
