This composition was commissioned by Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ with support from Ammodo.
“I did not paint the war, but there is no doubt that the war is present in the paintings I made at that time,” Picasso is said to have once remarked. Fallah drew inspiration from Picasso’s works in which the presence of war can be deeply felt. Her new piece is an aubade, a tribute to life set against the backdrop of countless conflicts and crises.
World Premiere
The commissioned work will receive its world premiere on Thursday, 2 October at 8:15 PM performed by Ensemble Musikfabrik conducted by Enno Poppe.
