Blad & Blazers Festival | Young & Promising

The four (bass) clarinetists in this programme are at the beginning of their careers. Jaime Peña Martínez takes you on an audiovisual journey with (Not) an Answer, exploring spirituality, magical-religious thinking, and its place in modern Western life in a compelling and immersive way. Meditative, profound, and surprisingly accessible. Femke van den Bergh performs, among other works, People of this Place by Australian composer Felicity Wilcox, a striking auditory reflection on Sydney’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

The program concludes with a jazz duo by Luis Miguel Aguilar and Brennan Hamilton-Smith, master’s students of jazz under bass clarinetist Joris Roelofs at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
