Interactive workshop for Minimal Music Festival 2026
Inspired by the minimal art of Sol LeWitt, SoundLAB has developed an interactive canvas that allows participants to create their own soundscape.
On this canvas, participants arrange abstract shapes into patterns and structures of their own choosing. A camera above the installation precisely registers which parts of the canvas are covered and translates them into a graphic score. Through sensors in the program Isadora, this score is then made audible: lines become rhythms, shapes become sounds, and patterns turn into musical structures.
In this way, participants experience firsthand how image and sound interact, how repetition and variation shape a minimalist musical world, and how their own choices determine how the soundscape unfolds.
In the SoundLAB, you play with remarkable instruments such as the Dato DUO, Toonpad, Formonium and the MODi. Together with others, you create an entirely new piece of music. The workshop aims to encourage experimentation with sound, to experience the joy of making music yourself, and to creatively develop new musical ideas.
