SoundLAB special Minimal Art x SoundLAB

Interactive workshop for the Minimal Music Festival 2026. Inspired by the minimal art of the American artist Sol LeWitt, SoundLAB has developed an interactive canvas that allows you to create your own soundscape.

On the canvas, you can place all kinds of abstract shapes, in patterns and structures, as you see fit. A camera above the installation detects exactly which parts of the canvas are covered, and this information is converted into a so-called graphic score. Using sensors and the computer programme Isadora, you can then hear how the score sounds: lines become rhythms, shapes become sounds, patterns become musical structures.

SoundLAB
In the SoundLAB, you play with remarkable instruments such as the Dato DUO, Toonpad, Formonium and the MODi. Together with others, you create an entirely new piece of music. The workshop aims to encourage experimentation with sound, to experience the joy of making music yourself, and to creatively develop new musical ideas.
