Kristian Bezuidenhout fortepiano

Hoewel alle noten netjes genoteerd zijn, is het hoofdthema van het recital van de Zuid-Afrikaanse pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout ‘improvisatie’.

Met zijn fortepiano neemt Bezuidenhout de luisteraar mee in het hoofd van Beethoven, Schubert en Haydn en beroemde composities die al improviserend ontstonden. Beethovens romantische Pathétique en Haydns Variaties in f klinken op de fortepiano van Bezuidenhout ongelofelijk fris, alsof ze ter plekke ontstaan.

Kristian Bezuidenhout baarde in 2014 opzien in het Muziekgebouw door met het Orkest van de 18e Eeuw alle pianoconcerten van Beethoven op fortepiano uit te voeren. Het bevestigde vooral zijn status als een van de beste fortepianisten van dit moment. De leerling van de legendarische Malcolm Bilson geldt al sinds hij in 2001 het fortepianoconcours van het festival Musica Antiqua in Brugge won als ‘the finest exponent of the fortepiano’ (The Herald).
