Your event in Muziekgebouw

What’s the behind-the-scenes of organizing an event at the Muziekgebouw? What are the possibilities, and how to maximize the event’s impact? In the following articles, we share our experiences, and those of event managers.

Spaces

.

Grote Zaal

The Grote Zaal is our main hall and one of the most flexible halls of the Netherlands. The flexibility of the technical facilities make the Grote Zaal unique. The floor parts, chairs, ceiling and back wall are all movable. While your guests are enjoying a drink in the Entreehal, our staff can transform a plenary session with stairs into a dinner set-up with a level floor within an hour

Setup options

.

Entreehal

The Entreehal is the entrance hall with a large glass façade, providing panorama views over the terrace and the river IJ. It’s the central area to welcome and register guests, and offer catering. The hall is also perfect for branding and stands.

Capacity

.

Foyerdeck 1

This scenic bright space gives the sensation of being outside while enjoying the beautiful panoramic view over the river IJ and the city of Amsterdam. Foyerdeck 1 can be used as an extension of the Entrance Hall and is perfect for smaller groups, dinners and extra stand space.

Room arrangements & capacity

.

Kleine Zaal & Foyerdeck 3

The Kleine Zaal as well as the neighbouring Foyerdeck 3 have a beautiful panorama view over the IJ river. It’s ideal for smaller groups or as a break-out room. A glass wall separates the Kleine Zaal from Foyerdeck 3, which is mostly used as welcome area and for drinks receptions. The glass wall can be opened entirely to create one large room.

Room arrangements & capacity

.

Atrium

The Atrium is a spacious, lofty and open entrance area on the 2nd floor. This is the visitor entrance for public transport, via the pedestrian bridge. The Atrium has a lot of natural light and is ideal for placing stands. In addition, it has an exclusive terrace with a view over the river IJ, towards Amsterdam North.

Room arrangements & capacity

.

Atriumzaal

This room is used for smaller gatherings. There are four break-out rooms in total, located along the sides of the room. The Atriumzaal is additionally used by our Education department for SoundLAB workshops; giving people the opportunity to make and compose music with unique instruments developed especially for Muziekgebouw. Naturally, these workshops can also be part of a corporate event as a musical twist.

Facilities

Sustainability

Muziekgebouw strives for the smallest possible ecological footprint. With our continuous efforts towards sustainability, we are one of the most sustainable cultural institutions in Amsterdam.

• Energy label A
• BREEAM certificate with sustainability certificate score 'very good'
• Almost 1000 solar panels on the roof
• Insulating glass (HR+) throughout the building
• The building is heated and cooled by means of a heat and cold storage (ATES) in the quay in front of the building
• All lighting on the window side of the offices is equipped with light sensors. When there is sufficient light from outside, the lighting inside is automatically dimmed
• Separate waste collection. By using pressure containers, we can limit the number of waste transports to one per week (instead of five). All waste collection is done by e-boat
• All wooden floors are FSC certified
• Empty printer cartridges are recycled
• Lighting in the building is largely LED

Technical support

Modern technical facilities
Muziekgebouw has a large team of professional light, sound and video technicians who can facilitate all of your wishes. Of course it is also possible to work with your own technical partner, but always under the supervision of in-house technicians.

Wi-Fi and hybrid events
The Muziekgebouw offers free personalized Wi-Fi throughout the building. There are in-house options for hybrid events and livestreaming. Our livestream partners are Eventfabriek and NFGD.

In-house caterer 4'33 Grand Café, part of Dudok Catering, is located next to the Entreehal on the ground floor and is a culinary extension of the Muziekgebouw that can provide catering for all your events. The Food Line Up
We're hungry for change! That's why we do catering a little differently at The Food Line-up. We don't employ permanent chefs in our own kitchen but work through a network of 100 independent chefs, food innovators, and culinary creatives, who put together a unique line-up of dishes for each event. From snacks to Michelin-star plates - always delicious, sustainable, and arranged from start to finish.

Branding

By branding you make your event in the Muziekgebouw even more yours. Think of XL banners, floor stickers or static foil on the windows. View the options on special Muziekgebouw webpages of our regular suppliers Maxtension and Brandyourevent.

Furniture & decoration

We recommend having your event decorated and furnished by Delight Eventdesign and Van der Maarel Eventstyling.

SoundLAB

SoundLAB is an experimental music workshop, for which more than 100 unique instruments have been developed by music artists. This can be an original addition to your business event, but can also be booked separately as a company excursion or team building activity. Guests learn to experiment with the instruments and compose a piece together. A musical background is not necessary, everyone can make music here!
