Three new works for strings

Public rehearsal around MIRROR, PRISM and REFLECTION, three new works by Ryoji Ikeda. The world premieres are composition commissions from Ensemble Modern, Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, with support from Ammodo and HELLERAU - European Centre for the Arts.

Normally, electronics and new technology play a leading role in the works of Japanese audiovisual artist Ryoiji Ikeda. Now, Ikeda is writing three works that are entirely acoustic. Each composition requires a special setup and he also designs the stage lighting himself. As such, he creates a ritual experience in which sound and stage set merge.

World premiere
The commissioned works will have their world premieres tonight at 20:15 during the concert by Ensemble Modern. During the introduction at 19:15 on Foyerdeck 1, Frederike Berntsen will engage in a conversation with Ryoji Ikeda.
