Exciting adventure in a hallucinatory musical reality

The Hallucinating Harmonists defy categorisation, blending jazz, contemporary classical, fusion, ambient and avant-garde pop music into a unique microtonal sound. The band’s instruments allow for quick and easy switching between different tunings. The listener experiences a hallucinatory musical reality, full of never-before-heard harmonies. The music by Sander Germanus, specially written for the ensemble, changes colour and style like a chameleon.

‘In my sound world, hallucinatory and disorienting harmonic progressions play an essential role,’ Sander Germanus says of his music. The swirling oscillations of the quarter-tone tuning, based on the musical principles of both Bach and Ellington, allow me to optimally challenge the listener’s expectations.’
