Workshop Indian music

Abhisek Lahiri has earned the honorary title 'shri' because of his excellence on the sarod, the Indian string instrument. He comes from a musical family, as does vocalist Somdatta Chatterjee. Prior to their concert with Ishaan Ghosh at Bimhuis on Saturday 6 April, the two musicians will give a unique Indian music workshop, focusing on different aspects of Indian classical music, with particular emphasis on playing the sarod and singing. 

Participants in the workshop will play on instruments brought by themselves, which should be tuned to C# (C-sharp). Prior knowledge of Indian music (raga) is not strictly necessary, but can help in following the explanations and joining in. There are 30 places available for participants.

Participants can gather at the Muziekgebouw Box Office desk up to 5 minutes before the start, and will be guided to the studio from there. The workshop is in English.
