Every song a gripping story

When Florian Boesch sings Schubert, for most lieder enthusiasts nothing more needs to be said. The deep baritone who turns every song into a captivating story has frequently been compared to such luminaries as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Anyone who has heard Florian Boesch sing Schubert, understands what the composer intended with his songs.

Ever since the Great Singers series started, Florian Boesch has been a regular on the stage of the Muziekgebouw. And every time, he captivates his audience with his storytelling power and his enormous dynamic range, from whisper-soft to overwhelmingly loud. ‘Balm for the soul’, as newspaper Het Parool once aptly described Boesch’s voice. The sensitive and colourful pianist Malcolm Martineau, also a regular in this series, has a wealth of experience as a lieder accompanist and works with many singers who belong to the world’s top.
