From serene beauty to the untamed power of the waves

Symfonieorkest Bellitoni presents the sea in all its forms: from serene beauty and yearning to the turbulent power of the waves. Britten’s colorful Sea Interludes paints a picture of life on the English coast in brilliant orchestral sounds. Soprano Jeannette van Schaik performs Chausson’s rarely performed Poème de l’amour et de la mer, a compelling love story in which the sea symbolizes longing, loss, and memory.

After the intermission, Zemlinsky’s magical Die Seejungfrau takes center stage, a late Romantic masterpiece full of lush orchestral colors, inspired by Andersen’s fairy tale. Under the direction of chief conductor Jurjen Hempel, The Sea promises to be a concert full of atmosphere, emotion, and impressive soundscapes.
