Brits multitalent Coby Sey is een vocalist, producer en DJ en een van de smaakmakers van de florerende muziekscène van Zuid-Londen. Na talloze samenwerkingen met o.a. Mica Levi, Dean Blunt, Tirzah en Klein is Sey nu toe aan zijn eigen doorbraak. Met elementen uit hiphop, soul, jazz, ambient en zelfs postpunk, kneedt hij zijn wijde muziek- en levenservaring tot een unieke, lome en droomachtige wereld.

Coby Sey’s tegenhanger is de productieve saxofonist en componist Ben Vince, een relatieve nieuwkomer in de Londense experimentele muziekwereld. Met al vier albums op zijn naam, waaronder recent op het invloedrijke label Where To Now?, en geprezen voor zijn opwindende live optredens is hij in korte tijd een invloedrijke stem geworden in de Londense scene. Vince schakelt moeiteloos van transcendentale minimal soundscapes naar krachtige skronk, oftewel krassende en dissonante avant garde, terwijl hijtegelijkertijd de mogelijkheden van de saxofoon herdefinieert.

Coby Sey
The multi-talented Coby Sey is a vocalist, producer and DJ, and one of the rising stars of South London’s flourishing music scene. A long-time collaborator of past The Rest Is Noise performers Mica Levi and Dean Blunt, as well as newcomers Tirzah and Klein, Sey recently struck out on his own to write and record his solo debut. Drawing from elements of hip hop, jazz, ambient and even post-punk, he twists and turns a wealth of music and life experience into a languid, dreamlike world entirely his own.

Coby Sey’s counterpart on the night is prolific London-based saxophonist and composer Ben Vince. A relative newcomer to the city’s experimental music scene, Vince already has four albums to his name as well as an acclaimed reputation for his electrifying improvised, live-looping saxophone routines. Effortlessly shifting from transcendent, minimal soundscapes to vigorous skronk, he employs extended technique and electronic processing to radically redefine the possibilities of his instrument.
