A Few Reflect the Heart

Seán Morgan-Rooney is a pianist who transports his audience into a dream world of his own making. ‘Intelligent and imaginative’ is how the professional jury of Dutch Classical Talent praised his playing. A Few Reflect the Heart is a programme in which Morgan-Rooney combines Maurice Ravel’s impressionistic piano cycle Miroirs with his own compositions for piano and electronics. The result is an intoxicating soundscape that seems made for the outdoor atmosphere of the Terrace.

Seán Morgan-Rooney hails from Ireland, where he is regarded as one of the most promising young pianists. For some years now, he has been based in the Netherlands, where he has been making plenty of appearances with thoughtful programmes and glowing playing. Miroirs is a five-part cycle Ravel wrote for his avant-garde friends in the early 20th century. Morgan-Rooney’s performance is also infused with hints of composers like Igor Stravinsky and Claude Debussy.

Purchase a ticket for €18.00 for a concert with drinks or a concert with dinner on the Muziekgebouw website. Please note that all drinks and food must be paid for at the terrace. 

Bad weather?
In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the performance will be held indoors in the Entrance Hall, which overlooks the river IJ. 

Keep in mind: the sun can be intense and the wind can be quite strong near the water, so come prepared.
