A donkey, rooster, dog and cat form a fantastic band

A rejected donkey, a raspy rooster, an old dog, and a cat who can’t catch mice anymore. No one wants them, so they join forces. They decide to start a band: the Bremen Misfits Band. In a brand new performance the ancient fairy tale comes to life, and at last, the music of the four animals can be heard!

The classic tale of the Town Musicians of Bremen, long beloved and famously captured by the Brothers Grimm, receives a contemporary twist in this concert. Children’s author Simon van der Geest has crafted a modern adaptation for this performance. The donkey is an elderly chap baffled by modern technology, the rooster identifies as a hen, and the dog is too rambunctious to sit still. The moral of the story is still the same: together we are stronger!

★★★★★ ‘Children's book author Simon van der Geest created a modern adaptation of the 750-year-old animal epic Van den vos Reynaerde for Holland Opera and Duda Paiva Company. And it is genuinely fun, beautiful, and easy to follow. The beautiful puppets and satirical approach make the performance a feast for the ears and eyes.’ (Volkskrant)
