The Sax Family (4+)

Picture this: eight saxophones talking, crying and laughing with each other. A true family. From the cute little slide sax to the grumpy grandpa bass sax. The entire house is turned upside down, as the family is about to move. Surrounded by dozens of moving boxes, the family members are remembering old times, looking forward to new adventures, and are sometimes – together! – a little scared.

The Berlage Saxophone Quartet is one of the top Dutch classical music ensembles. The Sax Family is their first family performance. With fresh compositions by alto saxophonist Peter Vigh and mesmerizing projections by Jurjen Alkema, the Sax Family’s world unfolds before you. This is a magical, heartwarming experience, crafted to resonate with every family.

In the Entreehal, you can once again draw and colour to your heart’s content. Everyone can also join in with crafts using materials that bring music and sound to life.

SoundLAB / Atriumzaal (2nd floor) / 13:00 pm to approx. 16:30
In SoundLAB, you can play with wonderful instruments such as the Dato DUO, Toonpad, Formonium and the MODi, which allow you to create a whole new piece of music together with others. During the Kijk Muziek afternoon, you can simply pop in and try out the instruments or take part in a flash workshop. Become a composer in fifteen minutes!

Artists’ Route Tour
Follow the Artists’ Route and join us on an exciting backstage tour of the Muziekgebouw. Find out where musicians warm up and technicians prepare everything behind the scenes. You might even meet a real artist!

Toddler Deck (2–4 years) / Foyerdeck 3 / 13:00 – 16:30
On Foyerdeck 3 near the Kleine Zaal, a musical play area has been set up where the little ones can play endlessly with cushions filled with music and other little instruments.
