Two accordionists, three dancers and a world where nothing is what it seems

Two accordionists and three dancers sit on a rotating disc, with a bookcase in the centre. It is a scene of colourful order. But then a book is torn in half and the entire set begins to move. A cheerful, musical puzzle-mess arises, in which new worlds emerge time and again. With music that is exciting, sparkling, slow, fast, loud, soft, silent or screaming. Just as versatile as life itself!

Halve verhalen (Half stories) is a co-production by De Stilte and the accordion duo TOEAC. Pieternel Berkers and Renée Bekkers make their accordions sound like wind instruments, strings and vocalists. Journalists have praised their ‘enviable dexterity, musical insight and healthy dose of guts’. In Halve verhalen, they perform works by composers ranging from the 18th-century Frenchman Jean-Philippe Rameau to the 20th-century Russian Vladislav Zolotaryov.
