Spiral Mass | Soldier Songs bundelt de twee spannendste jonge componisten van de New Yorkse scene, Nico Muhly en David T. Little, in een extreem contrasterend programma.

Van Muhly klinken twee hemelse missen, uitgevoerd door het Nederlands Kamerkoor en James McVinnie op orgel: Bright Mass with Canons en de wereldpremière van de nieuwe Spiral Mass. Van de hemel belanden we vervolgens midden in de hel van de oorlog met Soldier Songs van David T. Little. Deze concertante uitvoering met bariton Christopher Burchett en het ensemble Newspeak wordt ondersteund door nieuwe videoprojecties van Bill Morrison. Met rauwe, eclectische muziek verkent Soldier Songs de verwoestende werking van oorlog op onze soldaten, hun familie en de maatschappij.
 

Spiral Mass | Soldier Songs combines two of the most exciting young composers in the New York scene, Nico Muhly and David T. Little, in a programme of extreme contrasts.

Organist James McVinnie is joined by the Netherlands Chamber Choir to perform two of Muhly’s heavenly masses: the Bright Mass with Canons and the world premiere of his new Spiral Mass. From heaven we drop straight into the hell of war in David T. Little’s Soldier Songs. This concert performance with baritone Christopher Burchett and the Newspeak ensemble is enhanced by new video projections by Bill Morrison. With its raw, eclectic music Soldier Songs explores the devastating impact war has on our soldiers, their families and society at large.
