Breaking down the barrier between performers and audience

Composer Brigitta Muntendorf is pushing boundaries. Her new immersive production Last Show is a performance about the performance itself. A performance in which everything is carefully staged and directed, whilst the content slowly dissolves. No one knows exactly how it will unfold, which is precisely what makes it so thrilling. One thing is certain: it will be unforgettable. As De Volkskrant put it: ‘With her spectacular multidisciplinary compositions, Muntendorf is one of the most interesting artists of our time.’

Muntendorf is one of Germany’s most progressive voices among a new generation of composers. She creates music that explores the fragility of socio-political concepts. She zeroes in on themes such as public versus private and digital identity. The result is work that is challenging, innovative and provocative – music that you feel and that makes you think. Her dazzling Melencolia was an absolute highlight of the 2024 Holland Festival at the Muziekgebouw. If you’re looking for a performance that leaves an impact, this is a must-see.

This programme is made possible by CONNECT – The Audience as Artist: a European initiative that breaks down the barrier between on-and-off stage and actively involves the audience as co-creators.
