Schoenberg Special

The awe-inspiring legacy of Arnold Schoenberg / Nov 2024

Genius, innovator, iconoclast: Arnold Schoenberg was it all. Without him, music history would have looked completely different. A pioneer of atonality and inventor of the twelve-tone technique, Schoenberg profoundly influenced entire generations of composers.

In his early period, he wrote masterpieces in a late-Romantic idiom reminiscent of Wagner and Richard Strauss. In other words: an incomparable figure. 2024 marks the 150th anniversary of Schoenberg’s birth, and for three evenings, the Muziekgebouw will be dedicated to Arnold Schoenberg and his awe-inspiring legacy.
