Boundary-pushing clarinettist and maker Jelmer de Moed presents his latest series: You. In this series, he explores the power of you, the audience! To what extent do you shape the musical experience? And how can we enhance our interaction with musicians?
The second meeting in the serie, You Speak in Tongues, unfolds as a musical ritual. Three musicians emerge from the audience. What begins as sound slowly shifts into whispering, incantation, and prayer. Words move between meaning and enchantment. Are they creating music and language, or are they creating us?
This concert also features the presentation of the new album Carolina’s Book of Spells by Nuno Lobo, a cycle inspired by the everyday, mysterious rituals of his grandmother, Carolina. A universe of small gestures, superstition, and tenderness captured in spellbinding music. After the performance, there will be an aftertalk and a meet & greet with Carolina Lobo, who is travelling from Porto especially for this evening.
