Monument to Jan Wolff (1941 - 2012)

Music Building founder honoured with special composition Howl of Wolff

On the tenth anniversary of Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in 2015, a monument was erected on the banks of the IJ for its founder Jan Wolff (1941 - 2012). The opening took place on 22 August, the anniversary of Wolff's death. For this monument, an interactive installation called Huil van de Wolff, composer Martijn Padding wrote a composition, which is “driven” by meteorological data around the building such as wind speed and humidity. Every 22nd of the month at 20:00, Huil van de Wolff can be heard under the large canopy at the front of the building.
