Arabic spiritual songs as a tribute to diva Umm Kulthum
The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra and singer Fadwa Al Malki celebrated the legacy of Umm Kulthum, icon of Arab culture with a triptych that highlights different sides of the Egyptian singer. In the wake of Eid-al-Fitr (Sugar Festival), it’s a perfect time to delve into her spiritual side.
Umm Kulthum's journey took her from a child prodigy growing up in poverty, to the heights of global stardom. She was able to use her voice to make a deep connection with her audience like no other. The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, Fadwa Al Malki and the audience all delved into this eventful history together on April 9, 2025 in the Muziekgebouw.
