Valentina Magaletti’s watervlugge percussiewerk en Tom Relleens free-jazz en psych-elektronica zijn de ingrediënten van improvisatie-duo Tomaga. Samen vormen ze een even onweerstaanbaar als onstuimig combo vrij van muzikale regels, met een geluid dat dankzij complexe polyritmische structuren zowel leunt op West-Afrikaanse ritmes, als op het hallucinante minimalisme van Steve Reich.

Magaletti en Relleen zijn muzikale duizendpoten. Zo spelen ze bijvoorbeeld ook in Raime, een band verbonden aan het prestigieuze label Blackest Ever Black. Ze hebben hun sporen in de improvisatiewereld ruimschoots verdiend, en hun studiowerk is getekend door kwaliteitslabels als Meakusma, Hands In The Dark en Kaya Kaya Records. Tomaga’s meest recente album, Bandiera Di Carta, is uitgebracht door Other People, het label van Nicolas Jaar. Het album is een samenwerking tussen Tomaga en instrumentbouwer en muziekwetenschapper Pierre Bastien.

Het duo Able Noise uit Den Haag / Athene gebruikt hun stemmen, tapes en alternatieve methoden om hun instrumenten te bespelen om een minimal en visuele performance te creëren.

Tomaga is Valentina Magaletti’s elastic drummer swag paired with Tom Relleen’s free-jazz and psych-based electronics. Together they form the powerhouse that is Tomaga. The duo makes up for a fierce combo championing unrestricted sonic explorations, resulting in a sound that is as liberating as it is rugged.

Both Magaletti and Relleen are also part of Raime and signed to the immaculate Blackest Ever Black records. Their practices are firmly rooted in the tradition of live improvisation, and their work has graced quality labels like Meakusma, Hands In The Dark and Kaya Kaya Records in the past. Their most recent album landed on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People imprint: Bandiera Di Carta is a collaboration between Tomaga and instrument builder and musical scientist Pierre Bastien.

Support act: Able Noise
Able Noise are Alex and George’s experimental baritone guitar and drum duo, based in The Hague and Athens. Through the use of voices, tapes and alternative methods of playing their instruments, they create a minimal and visual musical performance.
