The colourful musical traditions of the USA

The United States of America. What a country. What a culture. Big and versatile. The Netherlands Wind Ensemble, together with American guest soloist Charly Lowry, makes a valiant attempt to unite the sometimes contradictory but always colourful musical traditions of the US in one programme. From Native American to the minimal music of Philip Glass. Fasten your seatbelts!

With singer Charly Lowry, musical phenomenon and descendant of the Tuscarora Indian Nation, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble (NBE) dives deep into the heart of American music. The common thread through the programme is the iconic film music Koyaanisqatsi by Philip Glass, in an arrangement for the NBE. Like a meandering river, the two musical landscapes merge, with live projections by young visual artist Vincent Rang.
