The Alba Rosa Viëtor / Calefax Composers Competition offers a stage for emerging composers and reed quintets. Composers from all over the globe, up to the age of – fittingly – 40, are writing new work for reed quintet. The jury, headed by Willem Jeths, will select four works to be performed this evening by four reed quintets: Calefax, Akropolis Reed Quintet, Kalamos Reed Quintet and Dianto Reed Quintet.
This is a great opportunity to see various reed quintets in action, and to discover a new generation of composers competing for the grand prize and audience award. Each quintet will perform both their final competition piece and a masterpiece from their existing repertoire. Be prepared to be delighted by the talents of the future!
