A versatile double bill awaits you tonight! Bendik Giske and Sam Barker present their collaborative project, which centres on stillness and contemplation. Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, virtuoso on the tombak and daf, presents his latest work Nexus: a compelling quest for rhythm, resonance and transformation. Two worlds, one evening full of groundbreaking music.
Barker and Giske both have roots in the Berlin techno scene. Physicality and queer theory play a major role in Giske’s work. Barker experimented extensively with atmospheric techno without beats. His 2025 album, Stochastic Drift, was lauded by De Volkskrant with a five-star review: ‘beautifully transparent and musically brilliant’.
Mohammad Reza Mortazavi’s trance-inducing performance transcends traditional playing techniques on the daf and tombak. He describes his core work as finding a balance between concentration and letting go, allowing the boundaries between body and soul to merge during his playing. You simply have to witness it.
