Federica Lorusso is a unique talent with a sound like no other. A pianist, singer and composer, she creates an irresistible mix of tradition and subtle experimentation. This afternoon, she and her Federica Lorusso Quintet will perform material from her second album, Incontri (Encounters). A shot of musical ingenuity for a delightful, balmy summer afternoon.
Italian Federica Lorusso came to The Hague in 2015 to study jazz piano. Her musical path continued in Amsterdam, where she earned master’s degrees in both piano and vocal performance, further enriched by a period of study in New York. After her successful, piano-centred debut, Outside Introspections (2022), Federica’s Incontri album brings her vocal talents more prominently to the forefront. Reflections on personal growth and the encounters that have shaped her, lie at the heart of Federica’s compositions – works that are simultaneously melodic and lighthearted, yet profoundly deep.
Outdoor concert
This Summer Concert is an outdoor event on the terrace of the Muziekgebouw. The sun can be intense and the wind can be quite strong near the water, so come prepared. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the performance will be held indoors in the Entrance Hall, which overlooks the river IJ.
