Extra edition IJ-Salon: four world premieres by young composers

We are exploring the music of the future in this special edition of the IJ-Salon. To this end, the IJ Salon welcomes the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra to its stage, a first. The full orchestra will perform four brand-new works and engage in conversation with their creators: composers of today. These composers are selected through a meticulous process; we are keeping their names under wraps for now.

Beginning composers rarely get the chance to work with a symphony orchestra. Now, four young composers have been given this honourable assignment. It would not be the IJ-Salon if the post-intermission program did not hold a few more surprises. We will let you in on one secret. The name of the composer: Duke Ellington.
