The young Lumen Folk Trio has only been around for a year, but has already made its mark in the Dutch music scene. Violin, guitar, and double bass in hand, they conjure a mood perfect for dancing or daydreaming. A unique blend of Swedish folk, classical music, jazz and bluegrass defines the trio’s self-penned songs. Light, warm and cheerful, with the occasional gentle shade of melancholy – kind of like a summer evening by the IJ.
Violinist Sarah Lynn Huizing, guitarist Tom Bouwmeister, and double bassist Boris Kwant founded the Lumen Folk Trio in early 2024. In their debut year, they were already performing at the Grachtenfestival, Klaterklanken festival, and the artistic haven of Ruigoord. And it’s easy to see why: with the natural ease of age-old folk traditions, the trio makes you gaze wistfully into the distance, only to have you tapping your foot with exhilaration moments later.
Outdoor concert
This Summer Concert is an outdoor event on the terrace of the Muziekgebouw. The sun can be intense and the wind can be quite strong near the water, so come prepared. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the performance will be held indoors in the Entrance Hall, which overlooks the river IJ.
