Three acclaimed musicians from the Arab diaspora celebrate Palestinian music. Palestinian-American oud player Simon Shaheen has arranged both classical and folk melodies, infusing them with a soulful and often uplifting spirit. Violinist Layth Sadiq, artistic director of the New York Arabic Orchestra, and Palestinian percussionist Tareq Rantisi join him on stage. UNRWA'S Director of external relations and communications Tamara Alrifai introduces the concert.
This tribute to Palestinian music takes place as part of Requiem for Justice. This biennial cultural event is organized by Action for Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting cultural rights in the Arab region and worldwide. This year, the fourth edition of the event will take place in Amsterdam from 19 to 22 September. Featuring panel discussions, film screenings, poetry readings and concerts at Pakhuis de Zwijger, Podium Mozaïek and the Muziekgebouw.
