Tonight’s performers are all household names within the Dutch music scene. Collectively, they are known as ORBI, which is short for: ‘The Oscillating Revenge of the Background Instruments’. Driven by a quest for creative reinvention and a shared passion for alternative genres, they present The Age of Greed. Expect a setlist that flips the script, jumping effortlessly from rock and metal songs to the works of Wagner or Mahler.
Both rock and metal styles and Late Romantic music are characterised by a penchant for epic and existential questions. In this programme, ORBI combines this historical sense of drama with contemporary concerns. The musicians constantly challenge one another, for instance by mimicking virtuosic guitar solos on the bassoon or double bass. From a Mahler symphony to Radiohead and Muse: this chamber rock band blazes through all musical boundaries.
