Bruckner Casco

The thrilling landscape of modern Dutch composition / Sep 2024

2024 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Anton Bruckner, composer of nine beloved symphonies, plus a “Zeroth” and a study symphony. Reason for a three-day special, Bruckner Casco, though not all notes played will be Bruckner’s. The composer’s spirit, however, will be omnipresent, serving as a springboard for explorations.

Fourteen composers, including Richard Ayres, Maxim Shalygin and Seung-Won Oh, have been writing new works inspired by Bruckner’s symphonies. The result is a vibrant tribute to the pragmatic and obsessive Austrian, while simultaneously showcasing the thrilling landscape of modern Dutch composition.
