De Amerikaanse muziekjournalist Alex Ross – de titel van deze serie is ontleend aan de titel van een van zijn befaamde boeken – noemt In Vain een van de grote meesterwerken van de 21e eeuw. Het avondvullende werk van de Oostenrijkse componist Georg Friedrich Haas is fascinerend en overdonderend. Muziek vol waanzin, angst, verwondering en dromen, in een soms pikdonkere zaal.

De muziek van Georg Friedrich Haas staat inmiddels regelmatig op het programma in Nederland. Met In Vain cultiveerde hij zijn aandacht voor licht en duisternis en vertaalde die in een meeslepende stroom fascinerende noten. In Vain overdondert iedereen die het meemaakt.

DNK-Amsterdam organiseert concerten met moderne muziek, in al zijn verschillende vormen: met gecomponeerde en geïmproviseerde elektro-akoestische muziek en conceptuele pop- en folkmuziek. DNK presenteert regelmatig geluidskunst, installaties, kunstshows, feesten en documentaires en werkte samen met STEIM, NIMk, Smart, Night of the Unexpected, OT301, OCCII en vele instellingen en concertlocaties in Nederland.

Nearly Not There Records is a temporary record shop existing within Nearly Not There... a one month exhibition at Amsterdam's W139. The shop is open for the whole month of February.

For one night they move from W139 to Muziekgebouw

The music is a cross section of new and experimental music, improvised, structured and composed music, conceptual and art music, all direct from artists or small labels, from many countries, including Holland, Germany, Norway, Lebanon, Turkey and America. The shop carries a small stock, around 100 titles, of LPs, CDs, tapes and books. Most titles are editions of 500 or less, sometimes hand numbered, or silk-screened, etc.
