Perera Elsewhere + Spill Gold + Fetter

Onder het pseudoniem Perera Elsewhere legt de in Londen geboren zangeres, dj en producer Sasha Perera haar rusteloze leven vast in bedwelmende, introverte songs. Haar stem klinkt enerzijds zwoel en anderzijds vol onderhuidse spanning, net als haar muziek, die sporen draagt van de explosieve dubstep en grime uit haar dj-sets. Perera produceerde haar album All of This op haar laptop terwijl ze verbleef in Berlijn, Istanbul en Mumbai. Ervaringen en frustraties verwerkte ze in intieme songs, opgebouwd uit vervreemdende samples met flarden gitaar, synthesizer en gedempte trompet. Soms duiken er verrassende citaten op tussen de vervormde beats; zo transformeerde ze het refrein van 50 Cent’s macho-rap Candy Shop tot een spookachtig klaaglied. Perera maakte naam in de Berlijnse clubscene als zangeres van Jahcoozi en werkte eerder samen met Modeselektor en Gonjasufi.

The London-born vocalist, DJ and producer Sasha Perera aka Perera Elsewhere gives expression to her restless urban life with songs that are at once hallucinatory and introverted. Her voice is sultry, yet brims with an undercurrent of tension, much like her music, which carries traces of the explosive dubstep and grime she favours in her DJ sets. Support acts are Spill Gold and Fetter.

Perera produced her album All of This on her laptop while bouncing between temporary homes in Berlin, Istanbul and Mumbai, channelling her experiences and frustrations into intimate songs composed of alienating samples, snippets of guitar, synth sounds and soften trumpet. Unexpected quotations pop up between her distorted beats, such as lines from 50 Cent's macho rap Candy Shop, which she turns into a haunting elegy. Perera made her name in the Berlin club scene as the frontwoman of Jahcoozi, and collaborated before that with Modeselektor and Gonjasufi.
