CELLOFEST

Harald Austbø is an extremely versatile and creative cellist, actor, and vocalist. He is active in the Amsterdam jazz scene, plays in multiple bands, acts and composes for musical theatre productions. At the first edition of CELLOFEST in 2018, he surprised the audience with a quartet specially formed for the occasion. This time, he brings a number of members from the Instant Composers Pool collective, of which he himself recently became a member. 

Han Bennink is the oldest member of this band. Together with Ernst Glerum, he has formed the rhythm section of the collective for several decades. Only a part of the main ingredients for this concert are known; most of it comes into being in the moment. Perhaps an appetizer with some of Harald Austbø’s new cello suite? And a main course consisting of their own pieces and improvisations? Or will those be supplemented with repertoire by Herbie Nichols, Misha Mengelberg, or Tristan Honsinger? Will there be any singing during dessert? Take place at the table in Bimhuis for this three-course menu with three jazz giants.
