Le Trio Joubran

Palestinian brothers perform lyrical, virtuosic oud music

Le Trio Joubran is unique because it is the very first ensemble featuring three players of the oud, the traditional Arabic lute. The Palestinian brothers Samir, Wissam and Adnan hail from a lineage of four generations of makers and players of this string instrument. In addition to traditional music, they perform compositions and film scores from their own repertoire. For this concert, the trio is joined by a cellist and a percussionist.

The Joubran Brothers are widely celebrated for their almost telepathic synergy on stage. They have collaborated with artists such as Brian Eno and Coldplay. The cinematic, narrative character of their music resulted in collaborations with directors such as Majid Majidi, Julian Schnabel and Karim Dridi. Among other awards, they won the Grand Prix de la Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival.
