A darkly comic and macabre performance inspired by a Roald Dahl story

In the macabre and humorous production Till Death Do Us Part (Or Not), based on Roald Dahl’s short story William and Mary, themes of power, revenge and medical ethics are brought to life through explosive string music, hip-hop and acrobatic dance. ISH brings street dance into the theatre, while Amsterdam Sinfonietta provides a top-notch soundtrack. It’s a masterclass in synergy.

At first glance, Mary Pearl appears to be a submissive, dutiful wife, patiently enduring the cold and authoritarian behaviour of her husband, William. Behind this facade, however, simmers a deep-seated resentment toward William’s intimidating dominance, which has stripped her of both personal freedom and affection. When the terminally ill William agrees to a medical experiment to have his brain and one eye kept alive artificially after his death, Mary sees her chance to settle the score and win back her life.
